Improving standards

Whenever a grading period comes to a close I get the question what can I do to improve my grade?
Here is a really good opportunity.

1. Find the standard you would like to make up. Schedule below:

2. Sign in at the make-up session. All of the Algebra 2 teachers will be hosting different sessions.
3. Once the session is attended, students can make up the test on their own time (ie, study hall, before, after school, or lunch).
4. Grades will averaged with the prior assessment score

Please let me know if you have questions, be aware the first standard starts this Thursday morning!

Do you have any additional questions about this?

Talk summer to me

Six more weeks of school!!!!!! Soon we will all be able to relax. We are ready for the warm, sunny weather every day and all the free time in the world. Going to the beach, eating ice cream and playing basketball are some of our favorite things to do during summer.

We are looking forward to going on a road trip to Canada together this summer.

What are some plans you have for the summer?

Who is excited?

Ok, we are mere hours away from starting Spring Break.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I can hardly wait.

We do the whole Easter hunt, Easter basket thing.
Here is my preparation of being the Easter bunny for Hope.

My parents put $$ in Easter eggs for the adults.  I instantly become super speedy and competitive.

I vow to spend the above mentioned moola on morning coffees and doughnuts for the week.

Easter traditions?
Favorite Easter Candy? Good old fashion jelly beans.

Could not have said it better myself.

This is a hard time of year.  It is cold, there is lack of sunlight, it just is blah.  Hard to be motivated to do things we like sometimes, much less things we do not. .........(like math problems)

But, we cannot forget that the work done now will effect our future, and all too often in April I have students wondering, "how do I get my grade up?"  The answer is DO NOT LET IT SLIDE NOW.
As tempting as it is, stick with it, and know your vices.

Check out this student's answer to #4.  Nailed it!

What are your vices? Diet Mountain Dew is tried and true, but this past week it has also been peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies.  Not together, but that doesn't sound horrible.

Now I have to ask, Weird but delicious food combinations?  Jelly toast with a slice of cheese.  (Don't knock till you try it)

Let's talk exam.

First of all, reminder, you need to pass your targets in order to pass the class reguardless of how infinite campus has averaged your grade.

Your exam will be a final chance to get any of those to passing, if need be, or to have that target re-tested.

This sheet will be handed out to you next week.

I advise that you look at your standards (other than the highlighted ones, everyone is testing on those) and decide if you need that standard assessed again.

It is not advisable to pick ones where you are happy with your grade, because then the exam could actually bring it down if for some reason things don't go well.

So, go to infinite campus now, look at where you are at, and make some notes about targets you would consider.   That way when you hand it in next week, you do not feel pressure to make a snap decision.

Let me know if I can help.

As always, leave a comment if you wish to ask a question that way.

Back to the Grind.

Here we are, whether we want to be or not.
No use fighting it, so let's embrace the work to be done.

First up, restoring our knowledge of unit 5, polynomials.

Post one topic that was done in unit 5, pre break.
However the rule is that no one in your pod can post the same topic.  Decide who is posting what before submitting your comment.
Use your bb9 to help remind you if needed.........I won't tell.
