Doing our best job.

When I want to do my best possible job at something, I know there are things I need to do other than WANT to do a good job.  I believe we all want to do our best job.  Wanting is easy, doing is hard.

In order to save me from my lazier, procrastinating self I found I need to do these things.

1.  Treat my to-do list like a date with another person.  If I am going to meet a friend at 6, I meet the friend at 6.  I treat things like grade papers 7pm or workout 5:30am the same way.

2.  Surround myself with other people who do quality work.  I can always learn from their efforts, and I like having them hold me accountable.  (Maybe vote yes to the seat change if moving could help you.)

3.  Reward myself.  (yep I said it)  If I do X, then you can mindlessly look at your phone, have a diet mountain dew, eat a salad the size of a small child (remember that is my favorite food, that is not punishment.) take a nap and/or go to bed early, impulse buy, no guilt.

4.  Read some inspirational quotes or listen to motivating songs etc, that remind me to not waste this one precious go around at life.

What is one (or more) things that work for you to do your best job?

  5. Listening to listening to classical or jazz music while studying. Listening to music with lyrics can be distracting for me while studying.
